Sports Portraits

Portraits of athletes away from competition. Shaped around their personality, environment and the story you want to tell.

The brief

The person behind the performance.

Competition shows what an athlete does. Portraits give more space to the person behind it: the routines, the environment, the details and the moments around performance. Clubs, federations and athletes can use that material for season communication, signings, profiles, sponsor content and editorial features.

We usually work where the sport happens — in the hall, on the track, in the gym or around training. The environment becomes part of the portrait, and we plan the session around the athlete’s schedule rather than the other way around.

Selected work

Selected portraits

Athletes from different sports, photographed in the places where they train, compete and spend their time.

Possible deliverables

For clubs, federations, agencies and athletes themselves.

01

Athlete portraits

A focused set of portraits with variations in framing, expression and environment.

02

Consistent team portraits

Lighting, framing and colour are planned to work consistently across the team.

03

Environment and details

The hall, the track, equipment and smaller details that place the portraits in the athlete’s actual environment.

04

Formats for your channels

The final selection can be prepared in the crops and formats needed for websites, social media, press, sponsor communication and print.

05

A repeatable setup

We document the lighting, framing and grade so future portraits can be matched as closely as possible to the existing set.

06

Short clips

Short clips can be filmed in the same session — movement, preparation and the moments around the portrait — and cut for social channels.

The final scope depends on the athletes, location and intended use and is confirmed in the project offer.

How it runs

Around training, not through it

Before

The list

We clarify who is being photographed, what the portraits are for and how the session fits around the existing schedule.

On site

Setting up

We prepare the lighting, framing and setup before the first athlete steps in front of the camera.

Per athlete

The session

A focused session with clear direction and enough room for portraits that feel natural rather than stiff.

Around it

The place

We use the time around the portraits to capture the environment, equipment and details that help place the athlete in context.

After

Selection and delivery

We select carefully, edit the set consistently and prepare the agreed files for their intended channels.

Example scopes

Different projects need different setups. These examples show common starting points.

One athlete

Individual athlete

A focused session with one athlete, built around the person, the environment and how the portraits will be used.

Possible elements:

  • Portrait variations
  • Environment frames
  • Channel-ready crops

A team

Team portraits

A consistent portrait setup for several athletes, scheduled around the team’s existing training or event plan.

Possible elements:

  • Individual team portraits
  • Consistent visual setup

Ongoing

Across the season

The same setup repeated for new signings and mid-season changes, matched to what already exists.

Possible elements:

  • Repeat sessions
  • Matched light and grade
  • Consistent delivery

Before we start

That depends on the project. We prepare the setup beforehand and plan the individual sessions around the time available to the athletes.

Usually where the athlete trains or competes, because the environment can become part of the portrait. A neutral studio-style setup is also possible when the project calls for it.

Usually, yes. We document the original setup and use it as a reference for lighting, framing and colour when new portraits are added later.

How the portraits are used in the club's own channels is the club's decision. We only show them in our own portfolio if the person has released them to us separately.

Let’s plan the portrait around the athlete.

Tell us who you want to photograph, what the images are for and where the session could take place. We’ll come back with a clear approach.
