A youth freestyle contest in an indoor skatepark — the runs, the podium, and the hours in between.
The day
Indoor light never changes, so the day is told by the riders.
The Backyard Skatehall in Oldenburg held its BMX Open over a weekend in November: qualifying runs by age group, then the finals, then certificates on a plywood podium.
We photographed the second day from the first run to the final ceremony — airs above the coping, riders waiting their turn and a row of kids on the edge of the bowl watching it all.
